		<description>Over the years I&#039;ve been on many expeditions (several dig seasons) at 8 or 9 different sites, from prehistoric up to Crusader periods. As a volunteer I&#039;ve stayed in a tent, a monastery, a kibbutz, a youth hostel, and a straw bungalo (all pretty primative) with wonderful fellow diggers. The digs are usually in the summer, when Israel is at its hottest. Lately I have to do the fieldwork as a real job, for pay, in the Old City. The pickaxe is my favorite tool. Scorpions, wasps, and chiggers are my least favorite companions. Archaeology is a great life. Come on over and dig, everybody!</description>
